The collection contains papers presented at two meetings of the World Council of Churches. The first was a meeting held by the World Council of Churches, Department on the Cooperation of Men and Women in Church, Family, and Society, in May 1958 to discuss a report on measures taken within member church bodies as to the admission of women into ministry. The second was a section meeting at the Fourth World Conference on Faith and Order, held in Montreal 1963, to which the Department presented papers on women's ordination from Lukas Vischer, André Dumas, Marga Bührig, Nicolae Chițescu, Georges Khodre, and Henry Brandreth. The papers present background biblical study and current attitudes from some denominations.
